RADOST BUILDING IN PRAGUE-ŽIŽKOV
For the purposes of the planned adaptation of the Radost building (originally the General Pension Institute, later the Trade Union House), an extensive structural and technical survey was carried out, divided into three main parts. The subject of Part 1 was the reinforced concrete frame, for which the strength of the concrete, the shape and reinforcement of the structures, the corrosion risks and corrosion state of the reinforcement, the shape of selected foundation structures and other relevant facts for the structural assessment of the structure were investigated. The subject of Part 2 was the diagnosis of the RAKO ceramic tile. The diagnostics included tests to determine the mechanical and physical properties of the tiles (tensile and flexural strength, adhesion to the substrate, water absorption, frost resistance, thermal and moisture expansion, open porosity, resistance to sudden temperature change and microscopic analysis) and identification of the types of damage to the tiles and their quantification. Based on the results of the diagnostics, an assessment of the condition of the cladding, prediction of the residual service life and formulation of suggestions and recommendations were made. The subject of Part 3 was non-load bearing structures. As part of the survey work, the composition of the envelope, floors and roof cladding were investigated, a thermal engineering assessment of the envelope was carried out and an assessment of the condition of the internal pavements was carried out. A year later, additional diagnostics were carried out on selected ceiling structures.
